We’ve all seen the news surrounding the corporate structure. Headlines featuring coined terms like “the Great Resignation,” “Quiet Quitting,” and “Tech Layoffs 2023” have filled out “for you” pages and timelines more than we asked for. College graduates are facing a challenging job market and it’s normal to feel uncertain about how to navigate the increasingly changing state of the economy. Jobs are more competitive than ever, and new talent have much to learn. New in the news is the term “quiet hiring.”

Quiet hiring refers to the practice of hiring candidates for a position without publicly announcing the job opening or conducting a formal recruitment process. While there may be some advantages to quiet hiring, such as speed and confidentiality, there can also be negative effects on the corporate world, including:

  1. Limited candidate pool: By not advertising the position publicly, companies may miss out on qualified candidates who are not already in their network or who may not know about the opportunity. This can result in a less diverse pool of candidates, limiting the company's ability to find the best talent for the job.
